Postal Worker Killed in Northwest Harris County Crash

A postal worker delivering mail in northwest Harris County was killed Saturday after a pickup truck struck his postal vehicle on the 11700 block of Antoine Drive near West Greens Road in the Northcliffe Manor area. Sheriff Ed Gonzalez and Harris County Sgt. P. Villacorta said the pickup driver had fled a separate minor crash, was speeding, lost control and rear-ended the postal truck; the postal driver, identified as a 58-year-old man by local officials, was rushed to a hospital and later pronounced dead. The pickup driver was detained at the scene, showed possible signs of intoxication during a field sobriety test, and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office has accepted charges of intoxication manslaughter. Southbound lanes on Antoine Drive remained closed as deputies with the Vehicular Crimes Division continue their investigation, and officials have released few additional details while the probe is ongoing. Authorities have not yet released the identities of those involved and are asking anyone with information to contact investigators.
