Sony Plans Full Integration of Bungie into PlayStation Studios After Restructuring

Sony is moving to fully integrate Bungie into PlayStation Studios, reducing the independence the developer retained since its $3.6 billion acquisition in 2022. Sony CFO Lin Tao explained that while Bungie initially operated with significant autonomy, structural reforms have shifted the studio toward becoming a standard PlayStation Studios entity. This change follows leadership departures, internal restructuring, and challenges including declining player engagement with Destiny 2 and controversy over plagiarized art in Marathon. Approximately two-thirds of Bungie's workforce were either laid off or reassigned last year, signaling deeper integration efforts.
