Typhoon Yagi Devastates Southeast Asia, 200+ Dead

Typhoon Yagi has devastated Southeast Asia, causing over 200 deaths, with Vietnam being the hardest hit, reporting 197 fatalities and more than 125 missing. The storm triggered massive flooding, landslides, and widespread destruction across Vietnam, Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar, displacing tens of thousands of people and ruining infrastructure and crops. In Thailand, nine recent deaths were reported, and rescue operations involving military special forces are underway in the flooded northern province of Chiang Rai. In Myanmar, 17 deaths have been confirmed, and over 50,000 people have been displaced. UNICEF has reported severe damage to over 140,000 homes in Vietnam and is providing aid. The storm’s impact is anticipated to have long-term economic repercussions, especially on agriculture and industrial sectors in affected regions.
