Uber Driver Arrested After Gun Threat in Florida

Jennifer Benitez, a 23-year-old Uber driver, was arrested in Port St. Lucie after a viral video showed her pulling a gun on passenger Krissy Celess and her friend during a May 12 ride in Hollywood, Florida. The incident occurred near Sheridan Street and North 29th Avenue after a dispute over directions, leading Benitez to cancel the ride, demand the passengers exit, and then point a firearm at them. The confrontation was recorded and widely shared, prompting immediate police investigation. Benitez was charged with aggravated assault with a firearm and is awaiting extradition to Broward County. She has been ordered to have no contact with the victims and is barred from possessing firearms. Uber removed Benitez's access to its platform and reiterated its prohibition on drivers carrying firearms.
