Air India Begins Construction of MRO Facility in Bengaluru

Air India has officially begun construction of a mega Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) facility at Bengaluru's Kempegowda International Airport, covering 35 acres and with an investment of Rs 1,400 crore. The facility is expected to create over 1,200 jobs for skilled aviation engineers and support more than 200 small and medium enterprises in Karnataka. Designed to accommodate both wide and narrow-body aircraft, the MRO will feature state-of-the-art maintenance technology and is aimed to enhance Air India's operational capabilities as it modernizes its fleet. This initiative comes after Air India signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Karnataka government and partnered with SIA Engineering Company for development. The MRO facility is anticipated to be operational by 2026, furthering Air India's goal of becoming a self-reliant airline in India's growing aviation sector. This development represents a significant step towards establishing Bengaluru as a key global aviation hub.
