Jitta Balakrishna Reddy, a prominent activist in the Telangana movement and a leader of the Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS), passed away on September 6, 2024, at the age of 52 after battling a severe brain infection. He had been in critical condition for over two months and was on ventilator support before his family decided to bring him home, where he ultimately succumbed. Reddy was known for his pivotal role in uniting youth during the movement for Telangana's statehood, and he had a varied political career, shifting between multiple parties including the TRS, Congress, and YSR Congress, before returning to the BRS. His contributions to the region included establishing purified drinking water plants to address fluoride contamination issues. Tributes have poured in from various political leaders, including Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who expressed profound sorrow over the loss of a close friend and ally. Reddy's last rites are scheduled to be held at his farmhouse in Bhongir, where many have come to pay their respects.
