Zhou Joins Ferrari as Reserve Driver for 2025

Zhou Guanyu has been appointed as a reserve driver for Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season, alongside Antonio Giovinazzi. This move follows Zhou's departure from Sauber, where he spent three years racing and became the first Chinese driver in F1 history. Zhou, who was previously part of the Ferrari Driver Academy, will step in if main drivers Charles Leclerc or Lewis Hamilton are unavailable. His appointment comes as Sauber, set to become the Audi F1 team by 2026, revamped their lineup with Nico Hülkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto. Zhou's return to Ferrari is seen as a 'homecoming', marking his strong ties with the Italian team. Meanwhile, Giovinazzi, who has been a reserve driver since his replacement by Zhou at Sauber, will continue his role and participate in the World Endurance Championship.
