Forty asylum seekers on the Bibby Stockholm barge are converting to Christianity in order to stay in the UK, a process that is coming under increasing scrutiny. The Church of England has been accused of facilitating industrial-scale bogus asylum claims. Abdul Shokoor Ezedi, a suspected Clapham chemical attacker, was able to gain asylum by claiming to have converted to Christianity. Worshippers in Portland, Dorset claim that some migrants are converting through UK courses such as Christian Alpha while others have converted in their home country. Home Secretary James Cleverly is expected to receive a report detailing the case and whether legal changes are needed for tighter scrutiny of asylum seekers' conversion claims. The police manhunt for Ezedi, who was convicted of two sex offences three years earlier, is ongoing and Scotland Yard has offered a reward for information leading to his arrest.
