$1.2B Scripps Medical Campus Planned for San Marcos

Scripps Health is advancing plans to develop a new $1.2 billion medical center campus in San Marcos, California, on a 13-acre site originally purchased in 1990. The Scripps San Marcos Medical Center will be constructed in phases, starting with a comprehensive ambulatory care facility that includes multi-specialty and primary care offices, ambulatory surgery, cancer care, and complex imaging. A subsequent phase will add a 200- to 250-bed acute care hospital offering a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services. The decision to proceed follows extensive planning and board approval, driven by increased patient demand in the area. The health system's collaboration with the City of San Marcos and the State of California will ensure compliance with hospital construction regulations. This development aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and support San Marcos' emergence as a regional healthcare hub.
