BART Police Release Bodycam Footage of Shooting
On November 18, BART police shot 32-year-old Jasmine Gao in the Union City station parking lot after responding to reports of reckless driving. Body camera footage released by BART shows that during the encounter, Gao initially engaged with officers but refused to provide her license and registration. After officers attempted to remove her from the vehicle, Gao rolled up the window while one officer, Nicholas Poblete, was reaching inside, prompting him to fire three shots, striking her in the torso. Gao survived the shooting and has since been discharged from the hospital. The incident is now under independent investigation, and Gao has active arrest warrants unrelated to this incident. BART Police Chief Kevin Franklin assured the public that a thorough review would be conducted regarding the shooting.
