Colorado Marks 149th Anniversary With Free State Park Admission, Statewide Events

Colorado is celebrating its 149th anniversary as a state with various festivities and activities throughout the weekend. Colorado Parks and Wildlife announced free entry to all state parks on August 4th, encouraging visitors to enjoy the outdoors while adhering to safety and environmental guidelines, though some fees like camping and licenses still apply. Denver's Union Station is hosting a celebration featuring history, heritage, and community events on August 1st. Governor Jared Polis urged residents to participate in the many free and discounted events statewide, including a Keep Colorado Beautiful launch, half-price admission to the Denver Zoo, and agricultural festivities at the Adams County Fairgrounds. These celebrations lead up to Colorado's sesquicentennial in 2026, coinciding with America's 250th anniversary.
