Spirit Debuts Premium Seats After Bankruptcy

Spirit Airlines is launching 'Go Comfy' extra-legroom seats with a 32-inch pitch, replacing the blocked middle seat policy, with over 40 seats in seven rows at the front of most planes. The rollout begins in June 2025, with seats available for booking for July 2025 travel and full fleet completion expected by 2026. Go Comfy fares include a free carry-on bag, no change or cancellation fees, priority boarding, reserved overhead bin space, and complimentary snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. The Free Spirit loyalty program has been upgraded to let members redeem points for premium seats, while Free Spirit Travel More Mastercard holders get two free checked bags per flight and complimentary upgrades. These changes come as Spirit emerges from bankruptcy, aiming to appeal to higher-spending travelers and compete with other airlines' premium offerings. A new Spirit-branded debit card launching in fall 2025 will allow customers to earn points on everyday purchases.
