Israeli Minister Ben Gvir Displays Gaza Destruction Images to Palestinian Prisoners

Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has intensified punitive measures against Palestinian prisoners by placing large posters of Gaza's destruction inside Israeli prisons, reportedly forcing inmates to view the images daily. The move is intended as a warning to the prisoners, with Ben Gvir stating it is meant to show that "you don’t mess with the people of Israel." This action follows his recent provocative visit to Palestinian leader Marwan Barghouti's cell, where he threatened that Israel would "wipe out" anyone opposing it. Human rights groups have expressed concern over worsening conditions in Israeli prisons, citing reports of abuse, including starvation and solitary confinement, amid the ongoing conflict. The Israeli military's campaign has devastated Gaza, with UN agencies reporting that over 90% of housing units have been destroyed or damaged, leaving millions in urgent need. More than 10,000 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, including women and children, with allegations of increased mistreatment since the conflict escalated in October 2023.
