Darlington Public School in Chippendale, Sydney, has been awarded the World Building of the Year 2024 at the World Architecture Festival in Singapore, triumphing over over 220 other contenders, including major airports and observatories. Designed by fjcstudio, the school showcases a strong connection to Aboriginal culture, featuring Indigenous artwork and a community garden that educates students on native plants and foods. The building is noted for its sustainable features, including saw-tooth roofs and high-level glazing that enhances privacy while allowing natural light. This marks fjcstudio's second win of the prestigious award, making them the first firm to achieve this honor twice.
