Man Dies in High-Speed Crash Fleeing Police in Odessa

A 46-year-old man named Jessie Berry died in a high-speed crash in Odessa, Texas, after fleeing from police following a suspected break-in at a local business. The incident began when an officer observed suspicious activity and was flagged down by a citizen reporting a break-in. When the officer attempted to detain Berry, he broke free, entered a white 2018 Corvette, and sped away eastbound on 11th Street. The Corvette lost control, left the roadway, and collided with two legally parked, unoccupied trucks before Berry was pronounced dead at the scene. No other injuries were reported, and the investigation by the Odessa Police Department is ongoing. Authorities have notified Berry’s next of kin and are seeking additional information from the public.
