To Lam, the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, will embark on a state visit to Cuba from September 21 to 27, following his participation in the United Nations Summit of the Future and the 79th Session of the UN General Assembly in New York. This visit marks Lam's first multilateral working trip in his new roles and highlights Vietnam's commitment to multilateral cooperation. In Cuba, he will commemorate the 61st anniversary of the Cuban Committee of Solidarity with South Vietnam and strengthen diplomatic ties, as Vietnam and Cuba have a long history of collaboration. Additionally, during his U.S. visit, Lam is expected to meet with major American corporations, although it is uncertain if he will meet President Biden. The U.S. is Vietnam's second-largest trade partner, with trade between the two countries reaching $111 billion last year. This trip emphasizes Vietnam's growing international engagement and its historical relationships with both the U.S. and Cuba.
