Hundreds of Train Services Canceled Across UK Due to Faults, Negotiations

Merseyrail services have faced multiple cancellations due to a train fault affecting lines including West Kirby, New Brighton, and Ormskirk/Hunts Cross. The issue stems from a broken down train at Fazakerley, with rail replacement buses requested but not yet in operation. In Sydney, over 350 train services were cancelled amid stalled pay negotiations between rail unions and the state government, leading to significant network disruptions. The Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU) has disputed government claims regarding the pay negotiations, emphasizing that a requested bonus payment was an existing entitlement. Additionally, Thameslink services in London have been disrupted due to a signalling fault at London Blackfriars, causing delays of up to 60 minutes and affecting several routes. Southeastern trains are also experiencing issues due to a signalling problem near Maidstone East, with some services resuming but still facing delays.
