Iowa Football Plans to Hire Omar Young as RBs Coach

The Iowa Hawkeyes are set to hire Omar Young as their new running backs coach, replacing Ladell Betts, who recently took a position with the New York Giants. Young, who has a diverse coaching background, was most recently an offensive assistant with the New England Patriots and has previously worked with the Chicago Bears and other NFL teams. He has extensive experience coaching running backs at various levels, including Eastern Illinois and South Carolina. With spring practice approaching, Young will lead a running backs group that lost standout Kaleb Johnson to the NFL, but includes promising players like Kamari Moulton and Jaziun Patterson. This will be Young's first coaching position under Iowa's second-year offensive coordinator, Tim Lester. The hiring comes less than three weeks after Betts' departure, demonstrating the Hawkeyes' swift response to fill the vacancy.
