Orioles Hire Craig Albernaz as Manager

The Baltimore Orioles have hired Craig Albernaz as their new manager and will formally introduce him at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on Nov. 4. Albernaz, in his early 40s, spent 2024–25 with the Cleveland Guardians as bench coach and associate manager and previously coached for the San Francisco Giants and in the Tampa Bay Rays system, where he led a team to a Midwest League title and won Manager of the Year in 2018. He takes over an Orioles club that went 75–87 and finished last in the AL East after Brandon Hyde was fired and Tony Mansolino served as interim manager. Orioles president Mike Elias said the club believes Albernaz can help return the team to contention while the front office addresses pitching and roster construction this winter. Observers praise Albernaz's ability to connect with young players and his baseball acumen even as he arrives without prior MLB managerial experience.
