Several Omaha Crashes Cause Multiple Serious Injuries

Several serious traffic accidents occurred in Omaha over the weekend, resulting in multiple hospitalizations. In North Omaha, a late Sunday night crash near 50th and Pratt streets left two people with potentially life-threatening injuries. Four people were hospitalized Saturday night after a crash on Interstate 80 involving a Toyota Highlander and a semitrailer that caught fire, with debris cited as a contributing factor. Earlier Saturday, two people were seriously injured after a Toyota ran a red light and collided with a Chevrolet in South Omaha; charges are pending against the elderly Toyota driver. Another single-vehicle crash near 13th and Jefferson streets Saturday night left a 24-year-old unrestrained, intoxicated driver with life-threatening injuries, with speed and possible alcohol involvement under investigation. Authorities are continuing to investigate the causes of these incidents.
