The incident reportedly began at the Empress Pub and spilled onto the street, involving multiple individuals and resulting in traffic being blocked. Coyle's older brother Tommy, a former professional boxer, stated he was the victim of a 'vicious unprovoked assault' during the same evening, though he sustained no lasting injuries. Hull City has stated it will refrain from further comment until the investigation concludes. The incident occurred a day after Coyle played the full match that helped Hull avoid relegation from the Championship. Both Lewie and Rocco Coyle are associated with Hull City, with Lewie serving as club captain and Rocco part of the youth team.
