God of War TV Series Undergoes Creative Shakeup

The God of War TV series adaptation for Prime Video is undergoing significant changes as showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus have exited the project, prompting a complete creative overhaul. Despite having completed multiple scripts, Amazon and Sony Pictures opted for a different direction, leading to the restructuring of the writers' room. Cory Barlog from Santa Monica Studio, along with other key producers, will remain involved as they seek a new showrunner. The show, which was first announced in 2022, follows the journey of Kratos and his son Atreus as they navigate personal and mythological challenges. Judkins will continue his role as showrunner for Prime Video's 'The Wheel of Time' while focusing on new developments at Sony. The project's timeline remains uncertain, with expectations now pushing the potential release to as late as 2028.
