Notre Dame Hounds End Jr. A Hockey Program, Expand Hockey Offerings

Notre Dame in Wilcox is discontinuing its Junior A hockey program due to a significant decline in student-athlete participation, with only one current player from the boarding school. Although the Junior A team is being let go, the school plans to expand its hockey offerings by adding a female under-15 AA team and a male under-18 AA team next year, aiming to better align with its business strategy and student engagement. SJHL commissioner Kyle McIntyre confirmed the discussions regarding the team's future and noted that potential new locations for the Hounds are being considered. The shift reflects broader changes in junior hockey dynamics and school sports programs, emphasizing the importance of student involvement in athletic teams.
