U.S. News & World Report has released its rankings of the top public high schools across various states for the 2025-2026 school year, highlighting standout schools based on factors such as college readiness, test scores, and underserved student performance. In New York, Queens High School for the Sciences at York College and High School Math Science and Engineering at CCNY made the national top 100, while Hudson Valley schools did not, with Edgemont Junior-Senior High School narrowly missing the cut. Ohio's top high school is Walnut Hills High School, ranked 91st nationally, with several others from the Columbus area also performing strongly. In Maryland, Baltimore County Public Schools saw multiple high rankings, led by Eastern Technical High School, which topped the state and ranked first in college readiness. Miami-Dade County in Florida placed four schools in the national top 100, including José Martí MAST Academy and the Marine Academy of Science and Technology, all with 100% graduation rates and high college readiness scores. Additionally, Bethlehem Central leads in New York's Capital Region, ranking 74th in the state and among the top 700 nationally.
