Health Canada Approves Moderna Updated Covid-19 Vaccine With Full Domestic Production

Moderna's updated COVID-19 mRNA vaccine, Spikevax®, targeting the SARS-CoV-2 LP.8.1 variant, has received Health Canada approval for individuals aged six months and older, marking a key step toward the 2025-2026 vaccination season. For the first time, all pre-filled syringe doses for the Canadian market will be manufactured domestically, with drug substance produced at Moderna's new facility in Laval, Quebec, and fill-finish operations completed by Novocol Pharma in Cambridge, Ontario.
