Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnudev Sai announced approval from the Central Government for 846,931 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) houses aimed at addressing the housing needs of underprivileged families in the state. He criticized the previous Congress government for halting the scheme, which left over 18 lakh families without homes, and alleged that they failed to contribute the necessary state share to the program due to concerns over giving credit to Prime Minister Modi. The current BJP government has pledged to include previously sanctioned houses in a new scheme without discrimination. Additionally, the CM has requested separate housing provisions for victims of Maoist violence and surrendered Naxalites. Since taking office in December 2023, the government has already made significant progress, with 199,000 PMAY houses constructed this year alone. CM Sai expressed gratitude to PM Modi for the recent approval and emphasized the government's commitment to fulfilling housing needs.
