Planning permission has been granted for the Humber Tech Park, a £3 billion ($3.82 billion) hyperscale data center complex in Lincolnshire, UK, despite local objections over environmental and traffic concerns. The 386MW facility, which will consist of three large buildings, aims to create nearly 400 jobs and position North Lincolnshire as a leader in artificial intelligence (AI) data center development. Residents voiced worries about the loss of productive greenfield land and the project's impact on wildlife, while the developer countered that the site would include a horticultural greenhouse using waste heat from the data center. The council noted the potential economic benefits, including significant investments and job creation during construction. Meanwhile, a separate development in Glasgow received approval for over 1,000 homes and commercial spaces, signaling ongoing urban regeneration efforts in the area.
