Judicial Commission of Pakistan to Appoint Additional Judges
Chief Justice of Pakistan, Yahya Afridi, has scheduled a series of meetings for the Judicial Commission of Pakistan (JCP) to discuss the appointment of additional judges across five high courts. The JCP will meet on January 17 to consider four appointments for the Islamabad High Court and three for the Balochistan High Court, with 20 names submitted for these positions. Following this, on January 23, the Sindh High Court will review 12 additional judge nominations, and the Peshawar High Court will convene on February 1 for nine appointments. Lastly, the Lahore High Court will hold its meeting on February 6 to discuss 10 additional judges. Among the nominees are several District and Sessions judges, as well as advocates from various backgrounds. The overall process aims to fill a total of 38 additional judicial positions across the country.
