Election Commissioner's Helicopter Lands Safely in Ralam

A helicopter carrying Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar and Additional Chief Election Officer Vijay Kumar Jogdande made an emergency landing in Pithoragarh district, Uttarakhand, due to inclement weather and low visibility. The helicopter, en route to Milam Glacier, landed safely in Ralam village, 42 km from Munsiyari, and all passengers, including the pilot, are unharmed. Communication with the stranded officials has been established via satellite phone, and they are currently sheltered in the village awaiting better weather conditions to resume their journey. To ensure their safety, Indo-Tibet Border Police teams have been dispatched to the remote area to provide assistance. The incident occurred as the officials were visiting to observe election machinery operations in high-altitude regions. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has announced bypolls in various legislative seats, including the Kedarnath assembly seat, with key electoral dates set for November.
