The French Rugby Federation (FFR) has instituted a ban on alcohol consumption during national team gatherings as part of a new performance plan aimed at enhancing discipline following several off-field controversies. Among the 20 steps outlined, the FFR will also introduce drug and alcohol testing, with prohibitions extending to the national rugby center, stadiums, and changing rooms. This decision comes in the wake of incidents including fullback Melvyn Jaminet's 34-week suspension for a racist social media post and the arrests of Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou for alleged sexual assault, which they deny. Coach Fabien Galthie expressed player support for these measures, considering them a necessary response to recent events. The FFR's plan also includes a commitment charter for team members to exclude alcohol from team-building exercises. France is preparing for upcoming matches against Japan, New Zealand, and Argentina next month.
