Peel Police Arrest Brampton Man for Death Threats to Mayor, Family

Kanwarjyot Singh Manoria, a 29-year-old man from Brampton, was arrested and charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm against Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown and his family. The threats were made via email in late June 2025, prompting enhanced security measures for the mayor and his family during the investigation. Peel Regional Police executed search warrants and seized electronic devices before taking Manoria into custody, and investigators believe he acted alone with no ongoing threat to the community. Mayor Brown expressed deep appreciation for the police's work and reaffirmed his commitment to serve despite the threats, emphasizing that violence and threats have no place in a democracy. Brown also noted this was not the first time he had received death threats but stated they would not deter his public service. Toronto Mayor Olivia Chow condemned the threats as unacceptable and wished for Brown's safety.
