The incident occurred during the Dodgers' 6-3 victory over the Chicago Cubs. Peete, who was attending the game to support his son RJ, a Dodgers clubhouse attendant, caught the ball effortlessly, frustrating Muncy. Peete's wife, Holly Robinson-Peete, explained on Instagram that the catch was an act of protection as the ball was heading towards her, and she apologized to Muncy. Despite the catch, the Dodgers completed a series sweep against the Cubs. Peete, a former two-sport athlete at USC, was drafted by MLB teams but chose a career in football, playing 15 years in the NFL.
