Hulu Orders Comedy Pilot 'Phony' Starring Connie Britton

Hulu has greenlighted a new comedy pilot titled 'Phony,' starring and executive produced by Connie Britton. The show, written and directed by Nick Paley, follows a teenager named Sonny who wakes up in the hospital after a car accident to find his single mother, played by Britton, has been replaced by an impostor. Britton will portray Ellen, who is also the principal of Sonny's high school. This project is part of Hulu's efforts to expand its comedy slate, joining other pilots like 'Downforce' and 'Mid-Century Modern.' The series is produced by Drew Goddard's Goddard Textiles and 20th Television. Britton is recognized for her roles in acclaimed series such as 'Friday Night Lights' and 'The White Lotus.'
