Georgia Police Launch Manhunt After Captain Shot in Throat

A manhunt is underway in McCaysville, Georgia, after police Captain Brantley Worley was shot in the throat while responding to a 911 call. The suspect, 26-year-old Timothy Craig Ramsey, was arrested after a tip from a local and is considered armed and extremely dangerous. Worley, a 15-year veteran officer, is in critical condition with a broken neck, brain bleeding, and fluid in his lungs, and was airlifted to a hospital in Chattanooga. Ramsey, known for a violent history, has been charged with aggravated assault with intent to murder a police officer, with potential for the charge to be upgraded if Worley dies. Multiple agencies, including the Georgia Bureau of Investigation and Homeland Security Investigations, are assisting in the case. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp expressed support and called for prayers for the officer and all law enforcement facing similar dangers.
