Benny Safdie Joins Christopher Nolan's 'The Odyssey' Cast

Christopher Nolan is set to adapt Homer's epic poem The Odyssey for a July 17, 2026 release, utilizing groundbreaking IMAX film technology. The film will feature a star-studded cast including Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Robert Pattinson, Lupita Nyong’o, Charlize Theron, and Jon Bernthal, with Benny Safdie reuniting with Nolan after his role in Oppenheimer. The Odyssey chronicles the journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca, as he faces numerous challenges while trying to return home after the Trojan War. Production is expected to begin in late February, marking Nolan's second collaboration with Universal following the success of Oppenheimer. The film aims to bring the classic tale to IMAX screens for the first time, exploring themes of heroism and loyalty through its fantastical adventures. Safdie, who has transitioned from directing to acting, is also set to make his directorial debut later this year with The Smashing Machine.
