ARISE News Presenter Dies After Jumping To Escape Robbers

Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu, 29, an ARISE News presenter and lawyer known as Sommie, died after jumping from the third floor of her Abuja apartment on September 29, 2025 while trying to escape armed robbers. Police, including FCT Commissioner of Police CP Ajao Adewale, found her unconscious and rushed her to Maitama General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities have launched a special investigative unit to track down the perpetrators. ARISE News issued a statement mourning their "beloved colleague" and described her as a journalist, lawyer and advocate for women and girls.
