China seeks global cooperation on AI at Paris summit
At the Artificial Intelligence Action Summit in Paris, Chinese Vice Premier Zhang Guoqing emphasized China's commitment to collaborating with other nations on AI safety and development, aiming to establish a 'community with a shared future for mankind.' He highlighted AI's role in driving technological advancements and called for innovative cooperation to address the challenges of AI development. Zhang also noted China's responsible participation in global AI governance and referenced President Xi Jinping's Global AI Governance Initiative introduced in October 2023. He invited international partners to join the upcoming 2025 World AI Conference in Shanghai to further these discussions. Additionally, during his visit, Zhang met with French President Emmanuel Macron, who expressed a desire to strengthen communication and cooperation with China. This summit included representatives from over 30 countries, all dedicated to fostering a collaborative approach to AI governance.
