Mike Flanagan's The Life of Chuck Premieres at TIFF

Director Mike Flanagan's upcoming film 'The Life of Chuck,' based on Stephen King's 2020 short story, will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 6, 2024. The film features Tom Hiddleston as Chuck Krantz, a humble accountant whose life story unfolds in reverse, starting from his death at 39 due to brain cancer and reflecting on his childhood in a haunted house. Flanagan describes this film as his least scary work, aimed at conveying a life-affirming narrative amidst apocalyptic themes. The cast also includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Mark Hamill, and Jacob Tremblay, among others. Hiddleston has noted the film's underlying optimism, presenting moments of magic against a backdrop of societal disintegration. Flanagan, who has previously adapted King's works, independently produced the film, believing its unique premise might not find backing from traditional studios.
