Andhra Pradesh Flood Warnings, Karnataka and Spain Affected

Andhra Pradesh authorities have issued urgent flood warnings as the Krishna and Godavari rivers remain swollen from heavy upstream inflows, with the Prakasam Barrage reporting a surplus of 612,325 cusecs and total realised inflows of 622,395 cusecs while Dowleswaram inflows ranged about 9.8–10.9 lakh cusecs. APSDMA says the Krishna at Prakasam has reached second-warning levels and parts of the Godavari have triggered first-level alerts; two NDRF and three SDRF teams have been deployed and residents in low-lying and riverine areas, including Dasara visitors in Vijayawada, are urged to avoid crossing inundated roads and follow official instructions. Reservoirs are near capacity and dam managers have increased outflows — for example Almatti’s discharge was raised to roughly 120,000 cusecs — exacerbating downstream flooding. In North Karnataka, reservoir releases from Maharashtra have kept tributaries high, submerging multiple bridge-cum-barrages in Bagalkot, damaging at least 321 houses and about 1,060 acres of onion crop, and forcing around 260 families into relief centres. Separately, Spain has been hit by torrential downpours with red alerts for Tarragona, Castellon and Valencia, flash floods sweeping away vehicles, closures of schools and parks, and emergency crews mobilised with forecasters warning of further extreme weather.
