McCaffrey Powers 49ers to 20-10 Win
Christian McCaffrey powered the San Francisco 49ers to a 20-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons, rushing 24 times for 129 yards and two touchdowns and catching seven passes for 72 yards for 201 scrimmage yards. Backup Mac Jones started for injured Brock Purdy and completed 17 of 26 passes for 152 yards with an interception. George Kittle returned from a hamstring injury and, despite no catches, used his blocking and presence to help open lanes as San Francisco ran 39 times for 174 yards in a near-fulfillment of Kyle Shanahan’s 40-run plan. McCaffrey’s 201-yard game extended his stretch to 100+ scrimmage yards in each of the team’s first seven games, a mark that matches a franchise record previously reached only by Roger Craig. The win improves the 49ers to 5-2.
