Massive Fire Displaces Residents in Bronx Apartment

A massive five-alarm fire erupted at a six-story apartment building on Wallace Avenue in the Allerton section of the Bronx early Friday morning, injuring seven individuals, including five firefighters. The FDNY responded to the emergency call at around 1:40 a.m., and the fire quickly escalated, leading to the deployment of 198 firefighters to battle the flames. The fire, fueled by heavy winds, primarily affected the top floor and burned through the roof, causing significant damage and displacing dozens of families. Fortunately, no major injuries were reported, but many residents were forced to evacuate into the freezing cold. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the Red Cross has set up a temporary shelter for those displaced.
