Heavy rains have caused severe flooding and widespread damage in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, leading to the cancellation of 99 trains and diversion of 54 others. Key affected areas include Khammam district in Telangana, where 110 villages are submerged, and major disruptions have occurred in cities like Hyderabad and Vijayawada. The Indian Meteorological Department has issued red warnings, predicting more heavy rainfall. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah have assured both states of the Centre's support, deploying National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams for rescue operations. Emergency meetings have been held by the chief ministers of both states to coordinate relief efforts. Power supply has also been disrupted due to waterlogging and damage to electrical infrastructure in numerous districts.
