Laapataa Ladies Selected as India's Oscar Entry

Aamir Khan's film 'Laapataa Ladies' has been officially selected as India's entry for the Best International Feature Film category at the 2025 Academy Awards, as announced by the Film Federation of India (FFI). Directed by Kiran Rao, the film tells the story of two young brides accidentally swapped during a train journey in rural India, exploring themes of patriarchy and societal norms. The decision follows a competitive selection process involving 29 films, including notable contenders like 'All We Imagine As Light' and 'Aattam'. FFI jury chairman Jahnu Barua highlighted that 'Laapataa Ladies' embodies the essence of Indianness, which was crucial for the selection.
