French FM Condemns US-Israel Gaza Aid Over Civilian Deaths
France's Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has strongly condemned the US- and Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation's (GHF) militarized aid distribution in Gaza, calling it a "bloodbath" that must stop due to the deadly incidents occurring at distribution sites. Since May, Israeli forces have reportedly killed over 1,000 Palestinians seeking aid near these sites, with the UN highlighting severe malnutrition and famine conditions in Gaza, especially affecting children under five. While the GHF denies responsibility for the fatalities, Israel acknowledges civilian harm but blames Hamas for diverting aid, a claim rejected by both Hamas and the UN. France plans to deliver humanitarian assistance via flights from Jordan in cooperation with Cyprus, which currently holds significant aid awaiting safe delivery. Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump acknowledges the starvation crisis and indicates his administration will increase relief efforts, despite maintaining support for Israel's objective to eliminate Hamas. In a related development, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to propose annexing parts of the Gaza Strip if Hamas does not agree to a ceasefire, following recent increases in humanitarian aid accepted despite opposition from far-right factions in his government.
