David Ontiveros Sentenced to Life for Murder

David Ontiveros has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the 2022 murders of his wife, Christina Michelle Limón, and his stepson, Rudy Xavier Limón Lira, in East Austin. Ontiveros called 911 to report the shootings, and police found both victims with life-threatening injuries at their home; Limón Lira was pronounced dead at the scene, and Limón died later that night. A bench was unveiled at Heritage Village Pocket Park to honor the victims and raise awareness about family violence. Family members expressed relief at the sentencing, emphasizing the trauma and pain they've endured. Travis County, which had the fifth-highest number of domestic homicides in Texas in 2022, is working with organizations like The SAFE Alliance and the Austin Travis County Family Violence Task Force to reduce domestic violence, including implementing a firearms surrender protocol for convicted offenders.
