Texas-Style Doughnut Shop Expands to Port Orchard, Boosts Local Economy

Lone Star Donuts has expanded to a third location in the Town Square Port Orchard shopping mall, offering large, handmade 'Texas-style' doughnuts and other baked goods like kolaches. The shop is known for its variety of flavors including pistachio, pina colada, pumpkin spice, and seasonal options such as mango, with their apple fritters being especially popular. Managed by Omar Santiago, who convinced his family to move from Texas to Washington to open the business, Lone Star Donuts emphasizes quality and a unique twist on traditional doughnuts. The business credits much of its success to Santiago's parents, particularly his mother, who designs and oversees the doughnut production. In addition, the shop offered a 20% discount to military and government employees affected by the federal government shutdown in late October. Lone Star Donuts started in 2022 and has grown steadily, showing local demand for high-quality doughnuts in the area.
