Omar Wilson convicted of murdering chef Mussie Imnetu near Notting Hill Carnival

Omar Wilson, 32, has been found guilty of murdering Mussie Imnetu, a top chef, during an altercation near the Notting Hill Carnival on August 26. The jury deliberated for over 20 hours before reaching a 10 to 2 verdict, after being shown graphic CCTV footage of Wilson's repeated punches and kicks that left Imnetu dying in the street. Prosecutors highlighted that Wilson left the scene to go clubbing, having struck Imnetu more than a dozen times while he was incapacitated. Wilson claimed he acted in self-defense, stating he felt 'trapped' and 'scared', although this was disputed by evidence. Imnetu, who had worked under renowned chefs like Gordon Ramsay, was heavily intoxicated at the time and succumbed to his injuries four days later in the hospital. In the aftermath, Wilson expressed remorse, acknowledging a 'monster' within him that led to the violent incident.
