The demand for server and storage components is surging, with revenues reaching a record $244 billion in 2024, driven largely by the needs of artificial intelligence (AI) workloads, according to a report by Dell'Oro Group. Key drivers of this growth include NVIDIA's GPU systems and AMD's Instinct platform, while major cloud service providers are increasingly adopting accelerated servers for AI training. Concurrently, a survey by Ciena highlights that AI is reshaping data center infrastructure, predicting that 43% of new facilities will focus on AI workloads. The study indicates that AI will significantly accelerate network traffic growth, necessitating enhanced bandwidth capacities and prompting a shift towards more distributed computing frameworks. Additionally, Synergy Research Group reports a doubling of hyperscale data centers globally to meet the computing demands of AI, with the U.S. hosting the majority of this capacity.
