ScotRail Announces Extended Christmas Train Services

ScotRail and several other UK railway services are experiencing significant delays due to a nationwide fault in the GSM-R communication system, which is currently under investigation. Passengers are advised to check their travel plans as at least eight rail lines, including ScotRail, are impacted, though ScotRail reports that services are operating with only minor delays. In response to the festive season, ScotRail will introduce additional late-night weekend services on key routes and increase seating capacity until Christmas, with specific services operating on December 6, 13, and 20. Timetable changes are also scheduled for December 15, and customers are encouraged to verify their travel times. Standard practices remain in place, with no trains running on Christmas Day or New Year's Day. ScotRail aims to support the night-time economy and ensure that travelers can access Christmas markets and events smoothly during this busy period.
