Port Talbot Mechanic Dies After Axle Stand Collapse

Daniel Burton, a 27-year-old mechanic and father of two from Port Talbot, tragically died after being crushed under his Audi A3 when the axle stand supporting the vehicle slipped. Despite being advised by his partner not to work on the car due to the darkness and the vehicle being parked on a slope, Burton proceeded with the repair after receiving a part earlier that day. Passersby noticed the unsafe positioning of the car and saw Burton lying underneath, but did not intervene until two women found him unresponsive and a neighbor used a jack to lift the vehicle off his body. Emergency services were called but pronounced him dead at the scene due to crush asphyxiation. An inquest ruled the death accidental, with no suspicious circumstances, and highlighted Burton's dedication to his family and passion for football and mechanics.
